The Foodabluza Creek Indian Taco Eating Championship

Location: Atmore, AL
Date: 04-27-2013
Winner: Tim "Eater X" Janus

EATER X DESTROYS 20.5 CREEK INDIAN TACOS IN 8 MINS AT FOODABLUZA!

He Of Great Mystery prevailed in the soft Alabama afternoon sunlight by eating 20.5 Creek Indian Tacos at the first ever Foodabluza Creek Indian Taco Eating Championship. His name will forever be remembered as the first to win this event. He also won $2,500 for his efforts.

The Creek Indian Taco is only available at Wind Creek Casino & Hotel, a stunning development in Atmore, AL, that offers guests a choice of toiletries at check-in; MLE went for the honeysuckle and suggest you do likewise on future visits. That's right—you can only get these babies here, not even the Internet has them. They weigh half a pound, feature a Native American fry bread on the bottom and ground beef and tacos toppings above. They are delicious. Contest organizers fully expected some entrants to swoon, pausing to tell the crowd, "This is so good, I can't believe it," instead of focussing on the next Creek Indian Taco during this eight-minute contest and indeed that was deemed to have happened.

While it was Eater X who distinguished himself as the greatest eater of the day, it was Cardboard Shell, Ms Michelle Lesco, who was the topic of heated post-contest discussion. Was today's second-placer the first woman to ever defeat Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas in sanctioned competition? (The collective wisdom in response: "Probably;" MLE fact-checkers verified the matter on Monday April 29th, 2013.) Cardboard Shell ate 16.5 Creek Indian tacos to Sonya's 15. Asked if she could believe her achievement after the event, Cardboard Shell said, "I can't believe it." Nasty Nate Biller, Badlands and Erik The Red Denmark rounded out the money positions with less fanfare.

As MLE's eaters departed Foodabluza—a two-day food-and blues music festival that featured no lesser musical act than the Atlanta Rhythm Section—they all had one question on their minds: Hey, when are we coming back next year?

The Foodabluza Creek Indian Taco Eating Championship took place at the Wind Creek Casino & Hotel Amphitheatre Main Stage at 5.30pm Central time on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Well, it was closer to 6.10pm because the band before us finished with a 28-minute version of "Purple Rain," which, it turns out, is Sonya Thomas's favorite Prince song, so there's that.

The Final Standings! 1 Tim "Eater X" Janus, 20.5 half pounders in 8, 2 Cardboard Shell, Michelle Lesco, 16.5 3 Sonya Thomas, 15 4 "Nasty" Nate Biller, 14.5 5 Eric "Badlands" Booker, 13 6 Erik The Red, 11.5 7 Matthew Raible, 11 8 CLC, 8.5 8 Don Potts of Coaling, Alabama, 8.5 10 Damien "The" Boykin, 8

Please note: This contest is restricted to participants aged 21 and over.
