Hall Hunt won big on his home turf, securing the title of "the world sweet corn-eating champion."

Hunt led throughout the 12-minute contest at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach, and ended with 33 ears of corn, 1.5 shy of the world record held by Sonya Thomas.

LaRue finished second with 31 1/4 while world record holder Crazy Legs Conti placed third with a reported 29 1/2.
